Helen X

Helen X had a very straightforward pregnancy. However, at her 32 week GP appointment her blood pressure was found to be high. Her blood pressure was monitored over 5 days, then HELLP syndrome diagnosed. Her son was delivered by emergency caesarean and spent 3 weeks in the neo-natal unit.

    I had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy. I was taken into hospital at 7 months (32 weeks) and my daughter, Seren, was born the next day. I also had some serious problems with blood pressure after I had given birth. Seren was discharged after three weeks.

    I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia 8 months (35 weeks) into my pregnancy. I was taken to hospital for bedrest and, soon afterwards, my baby was delivered by c-section. My baby, Thomas, was very small and he was cared for on SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit) for three weeks.

    I developed severe pre-eclampsia 5 months (25 weeks) into my first pregnancy. Scans showed that my unborn baby had a brain haemorrhage and he had stopped growing. The doctors advised me and my husband to terminate the pregnancy, and our baby was subsequently stillborn.
