Shaista developed Covid symptoms in March, before Covid testing was available. When she did get tested, she came back negative for Covid. Shaista's GP diagnosed her with long Covid in January, but she has been unable to attend a long Covid clinic.

Nargis tested positive for Covid during the January 2021 lockdown after she, along with her husband and son, developed symptoms. She felt that having Covid made the pain from her pre-existing condition worse. Her symptoms were different from other people's.

Gender: Male Ethnicity: Malaysian Background: Tun is 48 years old and is Malaysian. He is married, with two children, and works as a surgeon. Tun tested positive for Covid after treating a Covid-positive patient. While Tun's colleague recovered quickly, he was admitted to intensive care when his symptoms became more severe. He found intensive care a traumatic and lonely experience.

Age at interview: 41 years Gender: Male Background: Temitope is 41 years old and is Black African. He is an IT service manager and lives with his wife and daughter. Temitope did not think he had Covid because he did not experience a high temperature. However, his friend encouraged him to take a test which came back positive. This surprised Temitope.

Gender: Female Ethnicity: White European Background: Genevieve is 40 years old and is White European. She lives with her husband and two children and works as a biologist. Genevieve and her husband developed Covid symptoms and isolated before the first lockdown. She felt anxious about how her symptoms would develop. She feels let down by the government's response to the pandemic.

Gender: Male Ethnicity: Pakistani Background: Mudasar is 43 years old and is Pakistani. He is married, with four children, and works as an Uber taxi driver. Mudasar thinks he caught Covid from a customer while working as a taxi driver. Within a few hours, he felt tired and had aches and pains. Mudasar had difficulty breathing, which he found was helped by inhaling steam.

Pooja isolated in her bedroom when she had Covid in March 2020. This was a tough time for her because she had limited social contact and missed her son's birthday party.

Zubair received help from a Muslim charity when he had Covid. They delievered him hot meals everyday so he did not have to worry about grocery shopping.
