Mohammed

Mohammad had a heart attack in his mid-50s and was found to be diabetic at the same time. He had a stent put in his heart, which later collapsed. He is on a minimum dose of metformin, which means his diabetes is mainly self-managed. He is very satisfied with the care he has received.

    Lee has had asthma all her life. She has type II diabetes with a family history. Weight is seen as a major factor in both conditions. She controls diabetes well with diet and exercise.

  • Tammy

    Tammy began having complex partial epileptic seizures at 26. She developed Type 1 diabetes during pregnancy; the diabetes and epilepsy make each other worse. She is concerned about the stigma of epilepsy and the safety and effectiveness of medications.

    Steve started with progressive hearing loss around 15-20 years ago. He was diagnosed with a non-cancerous tumour of the pituitary gland 3 years ago. He recently had a double hip replacement due to a bone problem. His main issue is tiredness.

  • Kevin

    Kevin was diagnosed with a childhood hip disorder at 7 years of age and still experiences pain in his hip to this day and walks with a stick. He had an industrial accident in 1993. In 1996, he was injured as a result of routine operation to remove a kidney stone. He also has learning disabilities and asthma.

    Val suffered from pain most of her life, beginning with the onset of periods, and was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome 15 years ago. Other problems include arthritis, depression and heart trouble.
