Peter & Stephanie

Peter was on in hospital with Covid for 4 months, including 3 months on the ventilator. He was then transferred to rehab at a local hospital. Stephanie was in regular contact with the hospital during Peter's admission. Peter is now at home and both he and Stephanie are recovering from this difficult time. Time of interview July 2021

  • Michael

    Due to his rheumatoid arthritis, Michael shielded initially, then contracted Covid upon returning to work in July 2020. He spent 11 days on ICU. His recovery was initially quick, then stalled. Michael still suffers from concentration problems and fatigue. Time of interview June 2021

  • Sadia

    Shortly after Sadia and her husband contracted Covid, Sadia's husband was hospitalised, and her father was admitted to ICU. Her father spent nearly 4 weeks in hospital.     After contracting Covid in the middle of the second wave of the pandemic in the UK, Victor spent 5 weeks in ICU and 1 week on the ward between mid-January and the end of February 2021. He was ventilated and continues to recover at home. Time of interview May 2021

  • Wendy

    Wendy has Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), which led her to be particularly careful not to contract Covid. However, in late December 2020, she fell ill, leading to a 3-week hospital admission, including nine days in ICU. Wendy was recovering at home at the time of interview.   • Kate

    Kate and her husband both contracted Covid in April 2020, but whilst she recovered he had to be admitted to hospital. He spent 12 days in hospital and recovered at home; he went back to work after 2 ½ months. The episode has had a big impact on her. Interviewed for the study in April 2021.

    Donna's husband Simon contracted Covid in January 2021 aged 68. When in hospital he struggled with his breathing, he was mechanically ventilated. After 33 days he deteriorated significantly.
