Karin wasn't particularly worried about Covid when she first heard about it. She contracted Covid soon after receiving the Astra Zeneca vaccine. Recovering took about ten days, though she still feels her taste and smell are not the same.

Gender: Transfeminine Ethnicity: White English Background: Sam is 36 years old and is White English. She lives in a shared house and works as a researcher. Sam caught Covid in the summer of 2021 after a celebratory birthday weekend. She was surprised by how ill she had been, and was grateful for having had the first vaccine before catching Covid.

Gender: Female Ethnicity: Pakistani Background: Shaista is in her 40s and is Pakistani. She works full time as a journalist and a city councilor. Shaista developed Covid symptoms in March, before Covid testing was available. When she did get tested, she came back negative for Covid. Shaista's GP diagnosed her with long Covid in January, but she has been unable to attend a long Covid clinic.

Gender: Female Ethnicity: Black African Background: Milembe is 52 years old and is Black African. She is married, with two children, and works in human resources. Milembe was worried about the relationship between her African ethnicity and the Covid pandemic. She wonderd if she caught Covid if she would be more likely to die than her white husband.

Gender: Female Ethnicity: Pakistani Background: Nargis is 43 years old and is Pakistani. She lives with her husband and son. Nargis tested positive for Covid during the January 2021 lockdown after she, along with her husband and son, developed symptoms. She felt that having Covid made the pain from her pre-existing condition worse. Her symptoms were different from other people's.

Gender: Male Ethnicity: Malaysian Background: Tun is 48 years old and is Malaysian. He is married, with two children, and works as a surgeon. Tun tested positive for Covid after treating a Covid-positive patient. While Tun's colleague recovered quickly, he was admitted to intensive care when his symptoms became more severe. He found intensive care a traumatic and lonely experience.

Gender: Female Background: Ayny is 33 years old and is Pakistani. She is married with three kids. Ayny was encouraged to get the Covid vaccine by her father. He videoed himself getting the vaccine and shared it to local mosques.

Age at interview: 41 years Gender: Male Background: Temitope is 41 years old and is Black African. He is an IT service manager and lives with his wife and daughter. Temitope did not think he had Covid because he did not experience a high temperature. However, his friend encouraged him to take a test which came back positive. This surprised Temitope.

Gender: Male Background: Robert is 62 years old and is Black Caribbean. He is married, with children, and works as a community nurse. Robert thinks he caught Covid from visiting a patient at home who was later diagnosed with Covid. He remembers thinking that he was going to die from Covid.
