Pauline - Interview 24

Pauline had bowel cancer diagnosed in 1991. She received surgery and chemotherapy, and had a secondary liver cancer which was successfully treated. For her, cancer is something to deal with and get over, and doesn't think about it much nowadays.

    David had bowel cancer ten years ago, and received chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. He had a liver recurrence, and received a liver resection. He doesn't worry about cancer on a day to day basis.

  • Alan - Interview 22

    Alan had bowel cancer in 2003, and received radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery. He had to have a hip replacement because his hip was weakened by the radiotherapy. Although he had lots of setbacks, he feels like things are getting back to normal. He does feel more emotional nowadays.

  • Thomas - Interview 20

    Thomas was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 1999. He feels that he is more appreciative of life following his cancer diagnosis. He still has to be careful with what he eats, but doesn't worry about cancer on a day to day basis.

  • Claire - Interview 14

    Claire was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease when she was 16 and 22, and more recently with colorectal surgery 6 years ago. She received surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy for her Hodgkin's disease, and surgery for bowel cancer.

    Norma was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and received surgery and chemotherapy. She had a temporary ileostomy which was reversed.

    Vic was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and received a permanent ileostomy. He now considers himself cured, and feels that diabetes is a more important health issue nowadays.
