Julie

Julie was expecting her first daughter and felt well through most of the pregnancy. But once she had passed her due date she started to feel unwell had headaches, distorted vision and high blood pressure. She developed pre-eclampsia and doctors performed an emergency caesarean.

    Kate's pregnancy had gone very smoothly until she reached 36 weeks. She developed pains which she thought were indigestion, but soon became more severe. She had high blood pressure and doctors soon diagnosed HELLP syndrome. Her son was born by emergency caesarean and was fine although small.

  • Samantha

    All went well during Samantha's pregnancy, until a check at 24 weeks showed her blood pressure was very high. At 28 weeks she was admitted to hospital for checks. Samantha's blood pressure continued to rise. Doctors decided to perform an emergency caesarean. Her daughter was born at 29 weeks and spent 7 weeks in hospital.

    At a GP appointment at 32 weeks check it was discovered that Michael's partner (Helen - Interview10) had high blood pressure. Her blood pressure was monitored over 5 days, then HELLP syndrome diagnosed. Their son was delivered by emergency caesarean and spent 3 weeks in the neo-natal unit.

    Helen had a very straightforward pregnancy. However, at her 32 week GP appointment her blood pressure was found to be high. Her blood pressure was monitored over 5 days, then HELLP syndrome diagnosed. Her son was delivered by emergency caesarean and spent 3 weeks in the neo-natal unit.
