Dr Abi McNiven

Abi McNiven is a Senior Qualitative Researcher in the Medical Sociology & Health Experiences Research Group, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. Her research interests are focused on women’s healthcare experiences and she is the co-Principle Investigator for this study. Abi conducted 19 of the interviews, contributed to analysis, and wrote 10 of the topic summaries for the site. She has previously produced seven sections for the Healthtalk website (on experiences of: acne, eczema, psoriasis and alopecia; pre-eclampsia; research nurses, midwives and allied health professionals; and cohort studies and contributed to many other studies).

Dr Francine Toye

Francine Toye is the Qualitative Research Lead in the Physiotherapy Research Unit, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Her research interests are focused on living with chronic conditions such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, and she has a particular interested in gendered experiences. Francine is known for her expertise in synthesising published qualitative research and feels that qualitative knowledge can lead to improvements in healthcare experiences for patients and health professionals. Francine is the co-Principle Investigator for this study, and it is her first experience co-producing a Healthtalk module. Francine conducted 31 of the interviews, contributed to analysis, and wrote 8 of the topic summaries for the site.

Sabrina Keating

Sabrina Keating joined the Medical Sociology & Health Experiences Research Group, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, as an Ann McPherson Research Fellow in 2021. Her research interests include health, gender, technology, and their intersections. Sabrina contributed to analysis, wrote 3 of the topic summaries, checked the analysis of 2 topic summaries for the site, provided assistance with written materials, and administrative tasks for this project.

Dr Carol Dumelow

Carol Dumelow is a Qualitative Researcher. Her research interests are patient’s experiences and women and children’s health. Carol contributed to the analysis, wrote 4 of the topic summaries and checked the analysis of 22 topic summaries for the site. She has previously produced sections for the Healthtalk website on cervical cancer; cervical screening; parents of children with congenital heart disease; heart attack; flu or flu-like illness in chronically ill or disabled children) and conducted interviews, and been a research supervisor for several other sections.

Dr Ashley White

Ashley White was part of the Medical Sociology & Health Experiences Research Group at the University of Oxford from 2020 until 2022. Her research examined socio-cultural influences on sexual and reproductive health. Ashley conducted 24 of the interviews.

Dr Lucy Frost

Dr Lucy Frost is a General Practice Academic Clinical Fellow. Alongside her GP training, she is based in the Medical Sociology & Health Experiences Research Group at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. Lucy wrote one topic summary, helped in the development of the catalyst film, and helped design and conducted the healthcare professional interviews.
