Hannah rarely goes to the GP but, when she does, she asks for an emergency appointment or goes because of her son. She has generally had a positive experience of GPs but finds appointments difficult to get and that the waiting list is sometimes very long. She feels quite comfortable with doctors and likes seeing one in particular who has known her and her family her whole life.

As a child Susan saw the GP mainly for minor problems. As she got older, she saw the doctor because of several ongoing problems including ear infections, irregular periods, fungal infections and a rare eye condition.

Vinay was diagnosed with a urinary infection but, when the pain continued, he found it hard to get tests done because of confusion over where he was registered. He went to see a GP several times in his home and university cities, as well as to A&E. Calcium deposits and kidney stones had been causing the pain.

A community psychiatric nurse visits her weekly and Fran appreciates the practical help she gets.

Aaron has mainly seen the GP because of sports injuries, most importantly problems with a fractured wrist and neck pain. He also saw an osteopath for the neck pain, and felt that it would benefit more people if osteopathy was available on the NHS.

Aphra's had very positive experiences of GPs and feels that she has been quite lucky'. She had counselling at school while she was doing GSCEs and caring for her mum. Aphra feels that her GP was particularly compassionate and kind' when she had depression because of a work situation.

Ish moved to the UK in 2011 and has seen his GP for minor health problems and acne. He found it hard to find a doctor that was right for him and used the internet to read online reviews about GP surgeries. He has a good relationship with his pharmacist and has had positive experiences of sexual health clinics.
