Norman - Interview 01

Norman took part in screening for unrecognised heart valve disease. He already knew he had some heart problems, and the screening confirmed he had a leaky valve. He was invited to attend a further appointment. We spoke to Norman twice, once after each appointment.

  • Cathy and Fraser - Interview 04

    Cathy and Fraser took part in screening for heart valve disease in 2009. Cathy learnt she had mild aortic regurgitation; Fraser's results were normal. (Cathy is developing memory problems, so Fraser fills in some details of her experience).

  • Lech - Interview 03

    Lech took part in screening for unrecognised heart valve disease. He previously had a heart attack and some angina. The screening showed he had a leaky valve and he was offered a follow up appointment. We spoke to Lech after each of the two appointments he attended.

    Brian took part in screening for unrecognised heart valve disease in 2010. He was told he has a very small leak in one valve and was invited to attend a follow-up hospital appointment. We spoke to Brian after he attended each of the appointments.

    Ursula took part in a screening programme for unrecognised heart valve disease in 2010. She was told she has a leaky valve, which left her feeling a bit anxious, and was invited to attend a second appointment. We spoke to Ursula after she attended each appointment.

    We spoke to Anthony and Pamela after they took part in screening for unrecognised heart valve disease. Both were told they had minor problems and were invited to attend another appointment. We spoke to Anthony again after this appointment. Sadly, Pamela died of another illness during this time.
