Daniel

Daniel sustained a traumatic brain injury just over a year ago. It was the result of a car accident in which no other vehicles were involved. He spent six weeks in intensive care and then had three months of rehabilitation to help him walk and talk again. He has had some seizures since his injury. He still has outpatient therapy.

    Louise was at a music festival in Spain when it appears she may have fallen from a pylon. She broke bones, sustained a brain injury and thirty-five percent of her body was burned. She does not remember her injury happening.

    • Nick Y

    Nick was cycling home from a shopping centre one evening when he had his injury. A bus ran over his ankle and foot. The damage was extensive, so he had to have the lower part of his leg amputated below the knee. This was not Nick's first experience of a life-changing injury; his son, Jamie (Interview 34) sustained a traumatic brain injury in a road traffic collision.

    As a hobby, Nick enjoyed racing motorbikes. He was on a track in Spain when he came off his motorbike and broke his neck. He is now a quadriplegic, paralysed from the chest down.
