Dr Abi McNiven

Dr Abi McNiven is a qualitative researcher in the Medical Sociology and Health Experiences Research Group, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, at the University of Oxford. She is a human geographer by background and obtained her PhD from Durham University in 2014. For the project on experiences of participating in cohort studies, she was the main researcher from October 2019 until completion, carried out four interviews, co-analysed the data, wrote six of the topic summaries, and was analysis checker and research supervisor for Dr Carol Dumelow.

Dr Carol Dumelow

Dr Carol Dumelow is a freelance qualitative researcher. She has conducted health-related research studies since 2001. She has a PhD in Sociology from the University of Surrey. For the project on experiences of participating in cohort studies, she co-analysed the data, wrote six of the topic summaries, and was analysis checker for Dr Abi McNiven.

Dr Maria Salinas

Dr Maria Salinas is a Medical Sociology and Health Experiences Research Group researcher, social anthropologist and psychologist. She has worked in health research, refugee studies and gender relations in the academic and voluntary sectors for over 25 years. She obtained her DPhil from the University of Oxford in 2000. For the project on experiences of participating in cohort studies, Maria was the main researcher until October 2019 and carried out 16 interviews.

Dr Fauzia Knight

Dr Fauzia Knight is an international qualitative researcher and author with an interest in self-care in health outcomes and agency in social change. For the project on experiences of participating in cohort studies, she carried out eight interviews.

Dr Magdalena Mikulak

Dr Magdalena Mikulak is a qualitative postdoctoral researcher in the Medical Sociology and Health Experiences Research Group at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. She is a gender studies scholar and completed her PhD in the Department of Gender Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science. For the project on experiences of participating in cohort studies, she carried out five interviews.

Dr Lisa Hinton

Dr Lisa Hinton was Director for Applied Research at the Medical Sociology and Health Experiences Research Group until December 2019. She is now a senior associate at THIS (The Healthcare Improvement Studies Institute) at the University of Cambridge. For the project on experiences of participating in cohort studies, she and Professor Louise Locock conceived and initiated the project, and conducted one interview.

Professor Louise Locock

In 2011, Professor Louise Locock and Dr Anne-Marie Boylan conducted a Healthtalk study on biobanking. Professor Louise Locock is now a Professor of Health Services Research, University of Aberdeen.

Dr Anne-Marie Boylan

Dr Anne-Marie Boylan is now a Departmental Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. For the project on experiences of participating in cohort studies, five of their biobanking interviews were analysed and included in the sample.
