Rebecca

Rebecca developed acne at the age of 12/13. She began picking at her spots and this developed into a condition called dermatillomania. Her acne cleared up with a GP prescribed cream to dry out the spots, but she continues to have dermatillomania.

    Abbie had mild acne from the age of 13. She visited a GP when her skin condition became more severe and tried various treatments. She saw a private dermatologist and found that Accutane (isotretinoin) worked well, despite the side effect of muscle aches.

    Marga developed acne around the age of 18/19. She has tried oral contraceptives, oral antibiotics, topical creams, shop-bought products and natural' remedies. At times, acne has had an impact on her emotionally by lowering her confidence and self-esteem.

  • Shu En

    (Audio or text only clips) Shu En has combination skin and developed moderate acne. She was given a course of Roaccutane (isotretinoin) by her dermatologist in Singapore. The tablets helped a great deal and she now uses a topical lotion containing isotretinoin to manage her skin.

    Molly, aged 20, has had acne since she was 11. She eventually went to a GP for help at age 14 and tried various prescribed treatments. These methods were unsuccessful and she wants to ask for a referral to a dermatologist for Roaccutane (isotretinoin).

    (Audio or text only clips) Yi first had acne when she was 14. Her skin improved after taking Chinese medicine and having facials, but her acne returned when she moved to the UK. Acne has negatively impacted on Yi's social life and made her feel very unhappy in the past.

    Alexandra developed acne on her back when she was 13. She went to see a GP at 16 but when conventional treatment did not work, she sought help at a specialist dermatology clinic in her home country of the Netherlands.

    Ollie has had acne since he was 13. After various topical treatments from his GP failed to work, he was referred to a dermatologist for Roaccutane (isotretinoin). He had a very positive experience with the medication and the medical staff he saw.
