Maria

Maria's daughter Jade has experienced several episodes of flu or flu-like illness since being diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1 at 6. Maria manages the episodes at home as much as possible and would like more information from the health professionals of how at-risk children may be affected by flu or flu-like illness.

    Naomi's daughter was initially diagnosed with asthma when she was 2. She was subsequently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was 3 and later diagnosed with Coeliac Disease. Her daughter has suffered one episode of flu like illness for which she was hospitalised.

    Ruth's daughter was diagnosed with asthma at 18 months. It's triggered by colds and viruses and she has been ill with a flu-like illness several times. Ruth and her husband have learnt to manage the episodes through close monitoring of the symptoms, increasing her medication and hospitalizing her when necessary.
