Jill

    Jeff's first attack of gout occurred while he was abroad on holiday. He has had attacks in his foot and knee. Jeff takes 300mg allopurinol every day. He occasionally gets attacks, mainly when on holiday, and manages these by taking indometacin tablets.

    Tony's first attack of gout was in his big toe joint. His second attack occurred five years later following an episode of food poisoning, and lasted for several months. Tony then started taking allopurinol, and has not had an attack for 20 years.

    Ian was diagnosed with gout in 1996. He had attacks every few months in his knees, ankle, wrist and elbow, and managed these with diclofenac tablets and ice bags. In 2010 Ian started taking allopurinol, and has not had an attack of gout since.
