Holly - Interview 32
Holly was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 18 and has had both absence and tonic clonic seizures. She has had a seizure alert dog, Elvis, for 5 years and is hence pretty much seizure-free. She is on pregabalin and Keppra (levetiracetam).

Simon was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 17. He is currently on Epilim (sodium valproate) and has been seizure-free for 2 years.
Simon is 21 and he lives in a residential college for young people with epilepsy. Ethnic background / nationality: White British.
Ben - Interview 30
Ben was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 14 and has both tonic clonic and absence seizures. He has tried lots of different tablets but his seizures are still uncontrolled. Currently he is on lamotrigine.

Charli - Interview 28
Charli was diagnosed with tonic clonic epilepsy at 18. She started taking lamotrigine a while after she was diagnosed, after she had a few major seizures. She has now been seizure free for two years.

Darren - Interview 27
Darren was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy at 11. He had neurosurgery in 2004 but the seizures came back and are now uncontrolled. He is currently on pregabalin and considering a second operation.
Darren is 19, single and lives at home with his parents. He is unable to work at the moment. Ethnic background / nationality: White British.
Paddy - Interview 21
Paddy was diagnosed with tonic clonic epilepsy at 18. He is now on Tegretol (carbamazepine) and his seizures are controlled.
Paddy is 21 and studying mechanical engineering at university. He is in a relationship and lives in a shared student house. Ethnic background / nationality: White British.
Will - Interview 26
Will was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 14. He is currently on Tegretol Retard (carbamazepine) and Keppra (levetiracetam) and has not had a seizure for four years.
Will is 24 and studies product design. He is single and lives at home with his parents. Ethnic background / nationality: White British.
Rosie - Interview 25
Rosie's temporal lobe epilepsy was caused by a brain hemorrhage she had as a premature baby. This also caused her to have mild cerebral palsy. She has been seizure-free for 10 months.

Ashlea was diagnosed with tonic clonic epilepsy when she was 18. She is on lamotrigine and has been seizure-free for two years.
