John P - Interview 25

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, after initially being a bit reluctant to go to the doctor. He had a mastectomy, followed by radiotherapy and tamoxifen which he felt was responsible for him gaining some weight.

    After his diagnosis of breast cancer he had to wait three months to have his mastectomy because of breathing problems. He then had radiotherapy over a six week period. He then had tamoxifen which caused him to gain weight.

    Was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. Had a mastectomy and lymph nodes removed, then chemotherapy, tamoxifen and Arimidex (which he later took with testosterone replacement, Nebido). He later developed itching in his other nipple and had a second mastectomy in 2002.

  • Michael A - Interview 22

    Michael was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. Had a mastectomy and 11-12 lymph nodes removed, followed by radiotherapy and tamoxifen. Found another lump in 2008 which was also breast cancer. Had a lumpectomy, followed again by radiotherapy and Arimadex

    Eddie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, although he first noticed a lump in his early teens. Had a mastectomy, but did not need radiotherapy or chemotherapy. He is taking taxomifen.

    Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. His diagnosis came as a surprise as the lump had been present for many years and he had been told it was nothing to worry about. He had a mastectomy, radiotherapy and tamoxifen.

    Tim was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996. He had a mastectomy, radiotherapy and tamoxifen for 7 years. The radiotherapy caused some burning of the skin and he developed a wound infection that cleared with antibiotics.

    Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. He had a mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and Arimidex. He was also offered reconstruction which he refused.

    RG was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. Treatment included mastectomy, chemotherapy and Arimidex. Soon after surgery he developed a seroma in his wound that required draining in hospital.

    Derek was eventually diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 after his GP had been slow to refer him for a mammogram. He had a mastectomy, and chemotherapy, radiotherapy and tamoxifen.
