Background: Tamar and Noam are a married couple, aged 30 and 34 years, and are White British. They belong to the Orthodox Jewish community. Tamar and Noam caught Covid in August 2021 after they had received their first Covid vaccine. While Noam recovered quickly from his mild symptoms, Tamar took longer to recover, and this was especially stressful as she was 38 weeks pregnant. They had to call the Hatzola (Jewish Ambulance service) three times to check her heart rate and oxygen levels and that her baby was okay.

Ricky and Sally are a married couple who live with their four children (a 3 year old, 2 year old and 17 week old twins). Ricky and Sally's household became affected by Covid in 2021 when Sally tested positive. Despite, also feeling unwell Ricky continuously tested negative. However, Ricky now experiences a distortion to his taste and smell.

Age at interview: 60s Gender: Female Ethnicity: Chinese Background: Cindy is Chinese and in her 60s. She is retired and lives with her daughter. Cindy is retired, a carer of adults, and a Christian. She lives with her daughter. She caught Covid while looking after her friend who also had Covid. She still feels some of the symptoms of Covid.

Gender: Male Ethnicity: White British Background: Sam is 39 and White British. He lives with friends and works as a freelancer. Sam was worried about his job during the first UK lockdown. He was aware that work could dry up and that his income could be affected. He caught Covid twice, and the second time his symptoms developed into long Covid.

Gender: Male Ethnicity: White European/ Hungarian Brief Outline: Laszlo was put into an induced coma because of Covid. When he came out of the coma he was concerned about PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and depression. However, he has not experienced this. He thinks that this is because he talks openly and shares his experiences with others.

Gender: Female Ethnicity: White European - Danish Background: Dorte is 55 years old and Danish. She is married and works as a care home manager. Dorte, a care home manager, found it stressful when Covid entered her care home. She says that she was worried about the residents.

Gender: Female Ethnicity: African Caribbean Background: Emma is 69 years old and is African Caribbean. She is a retired librarian and lives with her daughter and niece. Emma felt like the pandemic was racialised and informed by racism. She spoke about the different Covid variants and how they were called the Chinese virus; and the Indian variant.;

Gender: Female Ethnicity: White American Background: Laurie is 59 years old and is White American. She is married with two children and is a professor of music and a musician. Laurie caught Covid early in the pandemic, which then developed into long Covid. The worst symptom for her was brain fog, which interrupted her ability to work. When she had her first vaccine this helped with her long Covid symptoms.

Gender: Male Ethnicity: Bangladeshi Background: Abdul is 34 years old and is Bangladeshi. He lives with his wife and daughter and is an IT product manager. When Abdul got Covid, he felt wiped out physically and emotionally. He found friends, family and colleagues helpful over his two-month recovery.

Gender: Female Ethnicity: Indian Background: Surindar is 66 and Indian. She is married and has a son. She is now retired. Surindar thinks she had Covid twice, once at the start of the pandemic and again in 2021. The second time she had unusual hallucinations.
