Alison's second pregnancy when she was 28 followed a miscarriage at 12 weeks. Her 21 week scan with her second pregnancy showed her baby had no kidneys. She gave birth to her son early knowing he would not survive. He was born showing no signs of life.

Vikki had two sons and aged 35 was pregnant for a fourth time. At her 20 week scan she found out her daughter did not have a heartbeat and she gave birth to her two days later. Since then she has given birth to another son.

Courtney was 29 and pregnant for the first time. At 20 weeks she went into labour and lost her baby because her cervix, the opening to her womb, was too short. Courtney went on to have another pregnancy which ended in miscarriage at 6 weeks.

Helen's fourth pregnancy following the birth of her son and then two early miscarriages. At her 20 week scan severe problems were identified and she was told her baby was unlikely to survive. Her baby died following a high-risk procedure to try and help her, she was stillborn at 23 weeks of pregnancy. Helen was 37 at the time.
Helen is married and has given birth to two children. She is a lawyer.

Lindsay's pregnancy was induced and her baby was born with a heartbeat but did not take a breath. Lindsay was 34 weeks pregnant with her 3rd child at the interview.
Lindsay is married with two children and at the time of interview was 34 weeks pregnant with her third child. She is a trained speech and language therapist.
