Steevie - Interview 07

Steevie, a 20 year old student nurse, has been diagnosed with bulimia. She attends an eating disorder clinic, has been having counselling and has been referred to a psychologist. Steevie would like to reduce her BMI (body mass index) from 36 to below 25. Ethnic background: Black mixed.

    Holly, 18, is a student and is happy being the size she is. She thinks it's important to hear from people who are 'comfortable with being on the larger side'. Holly disagrees with her BMI (body mass index), which classes her as 'morbidly obese'' she would describe herself as overweight. Ethnic background: White British.

    As a GP and the co-author of several books on the menopause, Sally brings considerable expertise to this website, presenting a medical perspective on the menopause. As well as a professional interest, Sally is also a menopausal woman who can genuinely empathise and understand how women feel.

    Tiredness, irritability and hot flushes in her fifties led Janet to take HRT. Symptoms returned after discontinuing HRT 12 years later. Resumed HRT for a few years but stopped after heavy bleed. At 77, no longer on HRT but still gets hot flushes.

    Maria's menopausal symptoms started two years ago with severe hot flushes, sweats, scant periods and 'mad moments. A recent contraceptive implant has led to heavy bleeding. Men at work laugh and joke about the menopause but have little understanding.
