Lesley & David ' Interview 05

David was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer, 7 years ago and is currently undergoing further treatment. Lesley finds caring very emotionally draining. She sees her role as helping David to control his disease.

    Linda has been diagnosed with a rare cancer and Brian supports her cancer journey by attending hospital appointments and support groups with her, and also helping around the house. Brian enjoys running; it is a time for taking care of himself and for reflection.

  • Janet & Chris ' Interview 02

    Janet was able to fit her work around supporting and caring for her wife Chris, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in May 2008. Chris died in February 2010, and Janet is currently struggling to come to terms with her loss.

  • Maggie & Donald ' Interview 01

    Maggie gave up work to care full time for Donald. Donald, aged 71 years, a retired civil engineer was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Donald died in November 2009 and Maggie is starting to adjust to a life on her own. She is looking at training for a career change in the future.

  • Tess - Interview 53

    When Tess was diagnosed with breast cancer, aged 33, she also found out she was pregnant. She had a mastectomy, chemotherapy and tamoxifen and Herceptin. She later had a second mastectomy with immediate breast recontsruction, and had her ovaries removed.

    Penny was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, aged 37. She had a mastectomy, radiotherapy, tamoxifen and Arimidex. She also had her ovaries removed and has been clear of cancer for ten years.

    Verite was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, aged 54. She had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and tamoxifen. She had severe side effects with tamoxifen and switched to Arimidex and then Aromasin.

    Janet was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. She was told she'd need a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Janet chose to have chemotherapy before surgery and was able to have a lumpectomy instead. She also had tamoxifen and Femara.

    Gillian was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, aged 51. She had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy, tamoxifen and Arimidex. In 2007 she was diagnosed with DCIS. She had a mastectomy and immediate LD flap reconstruction, and chemotherapy.

    Ingrid was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, aged 58. She had a mastectomy with immediate LD flap reconstruction. She also had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and Arimidex. During chemotherapy, Ingrid had a bi-lateral pulmonary embolism.
