Celia - Interview 35

Celia's husband, Deepak, had kidney failure in his early 30s and a kidney transplant in 1995, aged 35. Caring for him before he had a transplant was difficult because his diet was restrictive, he was often exhausted, and they had two small children.

    Linda had diabetes since the age of 22 and had a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2004, aged 44. In 2009, she had blood cancer. She has been well since then and enjoys spending quality time with her grandchildren, cooking and interior design.

    Mick and Natalie's son sadly died of a brain haemorrhage in 2004, aged 8. He gave the gift of life to three people, who received a kidney, liver and heart valves.

    In 2008, Chris had a kidney transplant, aged 49. Complications meant that this kidney had to be removed. In 2009, he had a second transplant, with a kidney donated by his brother. Both of them recovered well.

    Andrea's brother, Paul, sadly died in 2009 of a rare condition called Wolfram Syndrome, aged 50. She and her father are proud of Paul and 'the gift of life' he gave to two people.
