Bill - Interview 114

Was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. Had a mastectomy and lymph nodes removed, then chemotherapy, tamoxifen and Arimidex (which he later took with testosterone replacement, Nebido). He later developed itching in his other nipple and had a second mastectomy in 2002.

    Michael was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia after a routine blood test. After a period of watch and wait he had various chemotherapies and antibodies and an allogenic stem cell transplant. He nearly died from pneumonia before his transplant.

    Ovarian cancer diagnosed in 1994 following tiredness, pain, nausea and vomiting. Treated with bowel surgery then chemotherapy. Recurrence treated by chemotherapy prior to surgical removal of ovaries and womb. Second recurrence treated by more chemotherapy.

    Derek was eventually diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 after his GP had been slow to refer him for a mammogram. He had a mastectomy, and chemotherapy, radiotherapy and tamoxifen.

    Neil was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia after feeling weak and lethargic and having a respiratory infection. He spent 7 months in hospital having 5 courses of chemotherapy as part of a clinical trial, which put him into remission.

    Diagnosed with testicular cancer (seminoma) with secondary tumours in 1991, followed by right orchidectomy and chemotherapy. In 1993, pain in lower abdomen. Left testicle was found to be fibrosed and infected. Left orchidectomy, and testosterone replacement therapy. Also has kidney disease and diabetes as the result of treatment.

    Was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1993 after finding an abdominal lump. He had chemotherapy and interferon, followed by a stem cell transplant for a recurrence. In remission.

    Marilyn was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia after having a blood test for something else. After 5 years of watch and wait she had oral chemotherapy. After 2 years in remission she had a different oral chemotherapy, which she has just finished.
