Doris - Interview 49

Doris developed a cough and went to the doctor. A scan revealed a shadow on both her lungs, which turned out to be adenocarcinoma. She had part of her right lung removed by video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and has been taking Gefitinib.

    Doris is a retired care assistant. She is married with two children (aged 57 and 55), 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

  • Derick - Interview 48

    Derick first developed a serious cough and went to the doctors in January 2011. He had a series of tests and was diagnosed with lung cancer. He had his left lower lung lobe removed using video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS).

    Derick is now retired but worked as a senior supervisor for museums. He is married with 3 children (age 47, 45 and 43).

    Sue was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008. She had 4 cycles of chemotherapy, which was effective, but had bad side effects. When the tumour grew again in 2009 she started a biological therapy, erlotinib (Tarceva) with good results, and is still having it.
