This film was made as part of VOICES (Vasculitis Outcomes In relation to Care ExperienceS) study, funded by Versus Arthritis.
The film is drawn from analysis of interviews with 32 people across the UK about their experiences of systemic vasculitis and healthcare. We also asked for their ideas for service improvement; the selected examples show how important good communication and coordinated care are to feeling safe.
Some of our patient partners were involved in developing the film. One said that, while it was “a bit of an emotional rollercoaster watching it,” she felt “it raised so many important issues, most of which I identified with.” Another, who was diagnosed nearly 20 years ago, reflected that the identified themes show “there is still a lot of work to be done.”
As a multi-system condition, outcomes for people with systemic vasculitis depend on timely, coordinated intervention from a range of healthcare professionals and departments. We hope that you will use the film in imaginative ways as a ‘catalyst’ to get local patients, families and NHS staff talking together about your services and how you can jointly improve people’s experiences.
