Hugh

Hugh had knee problems since he was a boy. He had partial knee replacement surgery to his right knee and later to the left knee in 2014. Hugh's operation was postponed 3 times and he contacted PALS for support.

    Around 2007 Geoff was diagnosed with arthritis in his left knee and had partial knee replacement surgery. Around 2011, four years after having surgery to his left knee, Geoff was diagnosed with arthritis in his right knee as well. In 2014 he had his right knee replaced.

  • Helene

    Helene was originally referred to a specialist because of the pain she had in her right knee. She later started having pain in her left knee and had a partial knee replacement in 2014. Helene is recovering well and has been walking indoors without crutches whilst the right knee seems to have resolved in the past few months.

    Around 2004 Joan started having an aching pain in her knee, which worsened with time. She was diagnosed with arthritis. She took anti-inflammatories for a while and then had a steroid injection into her knee. Joan had a partial knee replacement in 2014.

    Penelope had partial knee replacement surgery in 2007 to her left knee and in 2014 to her right knee. She was happy with the care she was given but would have liked more guidance on the exercises. Both operations were successful.

    Phillip had partial knee replacement surgery to his right knee in 2013 and, a year later in 2014, to his left knee. He found it hard to walk before the first operation, but can now do many activities he'd had to give up before the operations.
