Dean

Dean was diagnosed with arthritis when he was two years old. The arthritis went away when he was six. When he was thirteen he developed diabetes and arthritis. He stopped taking methotrexate because of panic attacks. He is allergic to anti-inflammatories.

    Ryan was diagnosed in 2007 as having juvenile idiopathic polyarticular arthritis. He is currently participating in a medical trial for the drug' tocilizumab.

  • Leigh

    Leigh has enthesitis-related juvenile idiopathic arthritis. He experiences a 'really achy burning sort of pain' in his lower back, sacroil joints, knee and ankles. His mum gives him Humira (adalimumab) injections. Leigh trains in judo even though he has arthritis.

  • Kyrun

    Kyrun has systemic onset juvenile idiopathic arthritis. He was diagnosed when he was six years old. His arthritis has never been managed for more than three months. He has had lots of treatment and spent months at a time in hospital.

    Kyrun lives at home with his mum, stepdad and two brothers. He is a college student. He is white British.

  • Bradley

    Bradley has enthesitis-related juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Initially he struggled to find a diagnosis and paid privately to see different doctors. His arthritis is under control and he has a good relationship with his medical team. Bradley does not let arthritis get him down.

    Bradley is at school studying for his GCSEs. He lives with his parents and sister. He has is white British.

  • Joseph

    Joseph was diagnosed with enthesitis related arthritis at the age of seven. After initial remission his condition flared up again and it became more difficult to control. He was started on Enbrel (etanercept) and has been on remission for the last two years.
