Magdalena Mikulak
Dr Magdalena Mikulak (she/her) is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Social Care and Social Work, Manchester Metropolitan University. Previous to that, Magdalena worked as a researcher with the Medical Sociology and Health Experiences Research Group, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. She obtained her PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) in 2017. She has a background in gender studies and her main research interests include gender, social and health inequalities, disability, and social care. Magdalena recruited participants, conducted the interviews, analysed the data and wrote a first draft of the topic summaries for this project.
Sam Martin
Dr Sam Martin (she/her) is a transfeminine qualitative researcher. She joined the Medical Sociology & Health Experiences Research Group, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford in 2019. Her PhD research developed and evaluated QueerViBE: an online intervention to empower trans and non-binary youth using applied discourse analysis and interactive video tutorials. She has a background in LGBTQ+ psychology, supporting victims of crime, psychotherapy and counselling, and trans youth work. Sam recruited participants, conducted the interviews, analysed the data and wrote the topic summaries for this project.
Melissa Stepney
Dr Melissa Stepney (she/her) joined the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford in 2015. She has a background in social geography with research interests in young people’s health, gender and qualitative methods. Melissa is the Principle Investigator for the project, conceiving the original idea and design of the research. Melissa directed and managed the project, as well as supervising and buddying the topic summaries.
Sara Ryan
Professor Sara Ryan (she/her), Manchester Metropolitan University. Sara obtained her PhD from the University of Warwick in 2006. She has a sociological background and her main research interests are disability, difference and social interactions. Sara was the Senior Research Lead and acting Principle Investigator for the study.
Fauzia Knight
Dr Fauzia Knight (she/her) is a senior qualitative researcher. She has researched and published in the areas of qualitative fieldwork, qualitative health and legal anthropology. She acted as buddy/supervisor for the topic summaries for the site.
Amelia Talbot
Amelia Talbot (she/her) joined the Medical Sociology & Health Experiences Research Group, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford as the Ann McPherson Research Fellow in 2019. Amelia provided research and admin support during the project.
