Established in 1997, the British Medical Association Patient Information Awards recognise the production and dissemination of accessible, well-designed and clinically balanced patient information. At this year’s awards, the Healthtalkonline Menopause project, led by Dr. Jenny Hislop of the Health Experiences Research Group, has received a Highly Commended award.

The menopause is an inevitable part of every woman’s life when periods stop and ovaries lose their reproductive function. The average age of the menopause in the UK is 52 years, however, some women may have an early menopause in their 30s or even younger. 46 women were interviewed about their experiences of the menopause.
